Fort Knox Trip Summary
By: Levi
August 10th thru 12th
2012
Friday: Today we began our journey to Ft. Knox at around
3:15. We stopped at a McDonald’s for dinner and talked. Then we finally arrived
at the base at 8:30. Then when we got thru the gates after getting the license
plates on the car registered into the computer, and taking a few pictures by
the display tanks in front then we went to the barracks. We then got our rooms
and unpacked. After we had a cracker barrel and played some games. Finally we
called lights out at 11:30.
Saturday: The fun finally begun! We first woke up and had
donuts and milk that Mr. Kilby brought for us. Second we went to the Patton
Museum on base. There were a lot of different things there from General
Patton’s limo to the polo gear he used. Plus my personal
favorite, a movie about Mr. Patton’s life! The museum was very interesting and
a wonderful experience!!! We then tried to find a park to eat at but they
either cost money or were under construction. After that we went to a DQ grill
& chill off the base to get lunch. Then we tried to go put putting but they
were closed from 3 to 5! So after being defeated again we decided to head back
to the barracks to chill out and play some games and wait for dinner. Finally
one of the highlights of our trip: bowling… We had pizza and bowled for 2
hours. After finishing bowling we went to the arcade area and played some of
the games and talked. We had a rock ‘in time!!! Then we all went back to the
barracks and took showers… Then we finally hit the sack.
Sunday: Today was the final day of our
trip… In the morning we all packed up and headed out. After a little bit we
stopped at the McDonald’s we went to on Friday and got breakfast. Some of us
had huge ones because they decided to blow all the money they were given and
some had to spend all of it because they had about 2 dollars left! But then
there were the wise and had to more than ten dollars left in their pocket. So
after that funny experience we headed for home and around 1:00 we reached the
church and went our separate ways.
Review: In the ups and downs of the trip we
all had fun. In our next meeting we all agreed that we probably should have
planned better. But on the good side we all had the chance to interact with
people we hadn’t really got to know {quote: Mr. Kilby} and was a great experience
in all. And personally it was a trip that we could relax and just take a chance
to get to know each other better.
